Detail showing the charcoal outlining- lots of ruler work, this time done by a young assistant who has an obsessive eye for detail.

Detail of AK-47 charcoal outlining done by the assistant, a high school student. Makes me shudder now.

I sort of liked the way this looked on its own.

The basic underpainting. For detail work I like to use Golden Acrylics because of their high pigment load. I'll use Golden Fluid Acrylics or Windsor & Newton Acrylics for the large swaths of colour because they spread better. You'll also notice the composition looks odd without the "reflective" edge framing the sign.

A seemingly better, or at least more unified, composition due to the "reflective" edge, here painted white. I left the sporaticaly painted section on the bottom alone because it seemed like a fitting allusion to bullets being fired out of the gun.

Detail of the AK. I also left this grey, not because I wanted to make it look more metallic, but because the grey made it seem more menacing.
