The underpainting for the text had almost as many layers as the swaths. The lack of an edge made the work seem unbound and too frantic, about to wobble off. Bringing an edge all the way around on top wouldn’t work, however because of the bottom of the painting which uses an old city sign program. I decided to terminate the edge in the “water” of the old sign logo, like a setting or rising sun.

My wife did the immaculate top layer detail of the old Marlins logo.
